HARTING is featuring numerous innovations on InnoTrans 2024

Ethernet networks are gaining increasing ground as onboard technology in railway applications. This calls for appropriate connectivity solutions that meet the demanding challenges of rail transport. At this year’s InnoTrans in Berlin, HARTING will be highlighting M8 solutions with the internationally standardised T1 Industrial mating face for Single Pair Ethernet transmission. Operator interfaces also play a vital role in the safe interaction between people and trains, as well as modular PCB connections that grant developers greater latitudes for innovative designs.

Operator Interfaces

Operator interfaces forge the bridge between man and machine in the onboard technology of rolling stock. They enable the control, monitoring and interaction in goods and passenger transport applications. At InnoTrans 2024, the Technology Group will be presenting robust and intuitive operator interfaces that increase productivity and safety in operations – representing an ideal addition to the HARTING har-port service interfaces for control cabinets and control panels.

All models are designed for installation in control cabinets and panels and are divided into two sizes:

1. The size for a housing cut-out with a diameter of 22.3 mm is suitable for applications in automation, mechanical engineering and robotics – in other words, for the production of rail transport technology.

2. The size for a housing cut-out with a diameter of 30.5 mm is designed for applications in the train itself. In addition to the industrial-grade housing interfaces, users now also benefit from reliable and robust operating elements from a single source.

Operating and Command Devices

Mini PushPull T1 Industrial

The Mini PushPull series connectors are characterised by their convenient, tool-free operation. Plugged in until a clearly audible click is heard – and the secure connection is readily ensured. They are the ideal choice for applications challenged by moisture, dust and vibrations. An additional locking mechanism, which can be sealed, prevents unintentional pulling strain.

The latest version of the modular principle incorporates the internationally standardised T1 Industrial plug-in face for the transmission of Single Pair Ethernet – the slim and sleek Ethernet entailing just two copper wires. The plug and appliance inlet are standardised in line with IEC 63171-6 and are therefore suitable for industrial use.

har-modular® cable connector

The new har-modular® modular connector system is now also available as a cable connector, enabling device designers to customize board-to-cable connections precisely according to their requirements. Customer-specific combinations of power, signal and data modules can be realised rapidly and conveniently. A wide selection of possible modules, which can be freely combined, saves unnecessary mould and tooling costs.

The online configurator enables users to select, configure and order the modules as required. All the necessary design related data is supplied automatically. Data and samples are available from a single source. The shell housings are available in ten different sizes for 1 to 10 modules, resulting in more than a billion possible combinations for a solid and DIN 41612-tested connection. This represents the ideal and flexible connection for applications on railway vehicles, on the tracks and in signalling cabins. Har-modular® meets the fire protection requirements of EN 45545-2.
