Sustainability Through Energy Storage and Distribution, and Data Centers
The value of energy storage in the reduction of carbon footprint has been a trending topic in the past few years. With the reports on the depletion of natural resources in recent years, the evolution of renewable energy such as solar, wind, and biomass have been an ongoing effort worldwide. One way to achieve the sustainable use of renewable energies is through energy storage systems.
Due to the depletion of natural resources, the importance of energy storage has increased. Energy storage refers to the technological process of the storing of energy for a later use to stabilize the electricity transmission and distribution network, in other words, efficient energy management. The upscale trend of these energy storage systems is leaning towards smaller capacity targeting the modern small-scale industrial, commercial, and consumer markets.
Energy Storage Systems (ESS) consist of many complicated interconnections that results in complex maintenance. The solution? Modularization and standardization through the use of connectors. Connectors are the cost-reducing and safe alternatives to these complex interconnections within ESS, playing an important role in ESS.
Connectors accelerate the assembly and operation of ESS based on battery modules. They contribute greatly to the security and stabilization of the transmission power and signals within ESS.
HARTING connectors are designed with simplicity in mind, ensuring a high-quality transmission of signals, providing excellent electric insulation properties. “HARTING has worked with its partners to develop various applications that have been successfully established on the market, making a significant contribution to sustainability,” said Norbert Gemmeke, Managing Director HARTING Electric. Below are some of HARTING’s ideal solutions for Energy Storage Systems.
Products
Han® S
HARTING’s Han® S is a compact, high-power, front-mounting solution for energy storage systems. It offers safe, simple, error-free connections and is compatible with most battery modules. It features protected locking and coding systems, is shock and vibration-proof, and offers various mounting options. Han® S is lead and halogen-free, meeting all relevant UL energy storage standards, including the new UL 4128.
Han-Eco®
HARTING’s Han-Eco® is a lightweight, high-performance plastic modular connector series, ideal for all industries. It’s modular, miniaturized, and capable of fast data transmission. It’s been shown to reduce energy consumption and voltage losses in IT equipment and data centers by about 50%. Compared to conventional CEE solutions, it’s a climate-friendly connector that minimizes transmission losses and increases power transmission. It requires less installation space, has a long lifespan, and allows for easy maintenance. Han-Eco® connectors are corrosion and fire-resistant according to UL94V0, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
Han-Modular® Domino Modules
Having met the industry's standards, the Han-Modular® Domino Modules are smaller and lighter, saving up to 50% installation space with the allowance to integrate different transmission types in a single module. The ability to combine several individual connections also reduces installation time, promoting sustainability through consistent modularisation with their time-saving and space-saving characteristics. The Han-Modular® Domino Modules are also compatible with components in the Han-Modular® series, the market standard for modular industrial connectors.
