DIN Connectors
The DIN connectors has proven itself millions of times as a tested classic for connecting circuit boards and backbones. HARTING customers praise its robustness and the continual advancements and optimisations.
DIN connectors
The robust classic: DIN connectors
Reliable, robust and tested a million times over – our DIN pin connectors and their variants are constantly being improved and advanced to meet the requirements of our customers.
The three main product families of the DIN 41612 series are the power connectors, signal connectors, and the corresponding products in the har-bus®64 series.
Application example
Arriving safely – with the DIN 41612 train control module: Solutions for railway applications are always subject to very tough conditions like vibrations, heat and cold. This also applies to the connection technology for train control modules. HARTING has developed a unique full metal housing made of die-cast zinc for such applications.
DIN 41612 Power connectors
For currents from 6 A to 15 A: DIN Power
DIN 41612 Power connectors with a pitch of 5.08 mm are preferred in applications which require particularly robust plug connections or higher currents from 6 A to 15 A. The requirements pertaining to these IEC 606032 standardised connectors are supported by our wide variety of shell housings and accessories, including full metal versions, which guarantee the necessary robustness and ensure a continuous shield from the cable into the rack. HARTING DIN Power connectors also provide low contact resistance due to their refined contact surfaces.

High contact density and robustness: DIN signal
Signal male and female connectors with a pitch of 2.54 mm, standardised to DIN IEC 606032, guarantee the required robustness as well as a high contact density – with up to 96 contacts in one connector. Many connection options (PCB to PCB, mezzanine or cable to PCB), up to 2 A per contact, outstanding transmission quality, and minimal contact resistance: these are the features that make the DIN Signal the preferred plug for demanding applications. They have proven themselves as a reliable solution for machinery construction, automation technology and railway applications.

har-bus®64
har-bus®64 - The advantages
HARTING has played a key role in the expansion of the VME architecture to 64 bits and data rates of 160 Mbyte/s (VME 64x) with the development of the new backward-compatible connector with 160 contacts.
- Additional connector contacts for I/O or future functionality
- Improved signal/ground configuration: thus ensuring signal transmission rates of up to 320 MBytes/s (VME bus), 1.25 Gb/s (Gigabit Ethernet) or 3.125 Gb/s (serial, point-to-point)
- Live insertion (e.g. cards can be inserted during operations)
- Standardised according to IEC 610764-113
- Up to 160 contacts
- Switch connector for automatic daisy chaining
Backward compatibility
The design of the har-bus® 64 female connector enables five-row and three-row standard male connectors to be connected. Five-row male connectors can also be plugged into three-row female connectors.
This type of backward compatibility allows the user to gradually enter the upper performance class while simultaneously using their existing daughter cards in less technically demanding slots.
