The Han-Smart® generation brings the intelligence into the connector.
Online-Configurator for industrial connectors
Need to find the right interfaces for your machine construction quickly and reliably without the drawn-out process of considering the connector details and all the many combination options? The Han® Configurator will quickly put all the necessary information and data relevant to your decision making at your fingertips. Start directly with your first configuration.
Connection technology
The most common termination techniques can be assembled into the Han® connectors. Special inserts and contacts are available to match the particular techniques of wire termination.
The choice of the right termination technique depends mainly on the type of cable, the cable cross-section, as well as the number and type of contacts. In addition, all termination types offer different advantages for different production conditions.
Locking systems for hoods and housings
The locking mechanisms of hoods and housings do not only protect the connector from unintentional openings, they also increase the tightness. The most often used locking mechanism for industrial connectors are locking levers. However, there are several mechanisms available in different versions, each of which has its advantages and is suitable for special applications.
IP protection (contact protection, dust, water)
The connector’s housing, sealing and locking mechanism protect the connection from external influences such as mechanical shocks, foreign bodies, humidity, dust, water or other fluids such as cleansing and cooling agents, oils, etc.
The degree of protection the housing offers is explained in the IEC 60 529, DIN EN 60 529, standards that categorize enclosures according to foreign body and water protection.
How-to-Videos
In order to facilitate the installation or assembly of large parts of our connectivity solutions, HARTING publishes appropriate instruction manuals. The documents explain to users how they must proceed during installation, replacement or maintenance of HARTING products1,2. For our most frequently installed solutions, we have also created video instructions.
Han® Range
Han-Modular® - The market standard for modular connectors
With the Han-Modular® series, you can optimally design connectors to supply machinery and equipment. This is made possible by combining individual modules for different transmission media. Signals, data, power and compressed air - in standard-sized industrial connector housings. Han-Modular® offers easy-to-handle, highly flexible solutions with a small footprint and versatile functionality.
Han-Eco® – high-performance plastic connectors
Han-Eco® includes a range of hoods and housings made of high-performance plastic. Due to their resistance to environmental impacts, the hoods and housings are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The use of plastic also brings significant weight and cost advantages over metal hoods and housings.
Han-Smart® - Intelligence in the connector
Intelligence in the connector – this is the Han-Smart® strategy. HARTING combines many years of connectivity expertise with advanced technology to extend the portfolio of established HARTING connectors. The products that will be used for smart industry applications must meet the new demands for dynamics and versatility. Manufacturing can be made more cost-efficient by strengthening communication and networking.
Han® F+B - Hygienic and robust
With Han® F+B, HARTING has created a range of connectors that are specially designed for the requirements of the food industry. Smooth surfaces make it harder for bacteria to accumulate. The hoods, housings and seals are robust and protect the internal contacts against hose water and aggressive cleaning agents, which are certified by Ecolab and have FDA 21 approvals. The water jet from high-pressure cleaners cannot penetrate the hoods/housings when closed.
Han® ES Press - Rapid termination technology and integrated plug-in jumpers
In order to increase the flexibility of modular manufacturing a connector must offer rapid installation, effortless exchange, and simple troubleshooting. HARTING fulfils these requirements with the Han® ES Press. The insert offers now a tool-less rapid termination technology. In addition, users can quickly and easily bridge contacts by placing plug-in jumpers directly at the connector.
Han-Modular® Flexbox - The next dimension of modularity
The flexible and reliable supply for fast, linearly moving components of machines and systems is achieved through the use of energy chains. With the Han-Modular® Flexbox, HARTING offers a novel interface in the modular plastic housing system. Longer, moving cable runs for machines and machine modules are easier to install and maintain.
Additional services from HARTING
Cable assemblies
Our delivery service of complete cable assemblies enables us to create added value for our customers. Once the particular requirements have been defined, we deliver a comprehensive solution with all the required coverage. Thus, for our customers, we are the one-stop-shop solution for all aspects of connectivity.
Applications
Transportation
We provide connectivity solutions for transmitting power, data and signals in railway technology. Ethernet backbones and data infrastructures (e.g. for sensors and passenger information systems) are just some of the possible applications. Connectors are also used during the maintenance and integration of stationary railway infrastructures. Connectivity for the exterior of rail vehicle requires robust solutions that can withstand high environmental stress, such as stone chips, corrosion and extreme temperature changes.
Machinery - Metalworking
HARTING offers electromechanical, optical and pneumatic interfaces as well as cable assemblies for tooling machines. The portfolio includes solutions for all common power, control, signal and data interconnects in a market segment that ranges from machine modules and functional units to compact machines to interlinked production systems with complex handling and robotic applications.
Machinery - Plastics
We supply standardised (e.g. EUROMAP) or customised electromechanical interfaces, components as well as cable assemblies for the transmission of data, signals and power. Our solutions enable the flexible and modular design of machinery and equipment in the plastics and packaging industries.
